Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 4, 2026
Welcome, curious explorer! Quirky Day Tripper helps people discover unusual roadside attractions and plan road trips. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, the services we rely on, and the choices available to you.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect a limited amount of information when you use Quirky Day Tripper, including:
- Account information you choose to provide, such as your email address.
- Travel-planning information you enter, such as cities, ZIP codes, selected stops, saved places, or saved routes.
- Technical information such as browser type, device type, basic diagnostic information, and pages or features used.
- Information you voluntarily provide when you contact us, submit a review, or otherwise communicate with us.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to operate and improve Quirky Day Tripper, provide requested route and attraction features, maintain accounts and saved content, respond to questions, prevent abuse, and understand which features are useful to visitors.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
3. Location Information
If you choose a feature that uses your current location, your browser or device may ask for permission. Location is used to provide nearby results or route-related features. You can deny or revoke location permission through your browser or device settings.
4. Cookies and Local Storage
We may use cookies, browser storage, or similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, preserve saved information on your device, improve reliability, and understand site usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings, although some features may not work as intended if storage is disabled.
5. Third-Party Services
Quirky Day Tripper may use third-party services such as Supabase for application infrastructure and account features, Google Maps Platform for maps and routing, and Google APIs for features you explicitly choose to connect. Those providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies as applicable.
Google / Gmail Data Use
Quirky Day Tripper includes an administrator-only email feature that can connect to a Google account. When an authorized administrator selects Connect Gmail, Quirky Day Tripper requests only the Google permission needed to send email on that administrator's behalf: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.send.
- Access: the app receives a short-lived Google OAuth access token with permission to send email. It does not request permission to read the Gmail inbox, email history, contacts, or unrelated messages.
- Use: the permission is used only when the administrator chooses to send a specific message from the Admin → Users section.
- Data sent to Google: the recipient address, subject, and message body selected by the administrator are sent to the Gmail API so Google can deliver the requested email.
- Storage: Quirky Day Tripper does not persistently store the Google access token in its database. The token is used for the requested action and is discarded. Google may retain the sent message in the administrator's Gmail account according to that user's Google settings and Google's policies.
- Sharing: Google user data obtained through this connection is not sold, used for advertising, or shared with unrelated third parties. It is transmitted to Google only as necessary to perform the requested Gmail send action.
- Control: the administrator may revoke Quirky Day Tripper's Google access at any time through Google Account permissions.
Limited Use: Quirky Day Tripper's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
6. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect information. No internet or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.
7. Data Retention and Your Choices
We retain information only as reasonably necessary to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain security. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information. You may also manage browser permissions, cookies, and connected Google access through the relevant browser or Google Account settings.
8. Marketing Communications
If you choose to receive updates or contact us, we may use the contact information you provide for that purpose. You may ask us to stop nonessential communications at any time.
9. Changes to This Policy
